$175 early-bird special three day passes for Lollapalooza tickets in Chicago

once upon a time, Lollapalooza was the first and only big music festival that the U.S. had to offer, and featured what would become the biggest bands in the world while they were all still playing clubs. (thanks for grounding me, dad… missed that first lineup of Nine Inch Nails, Jane’s Addiction, Siouxsie and the Banshees, et al… now i’m wasting my life blogging about music shows, dad… you happy, dad? YOU HAPPY!!!) the tour used to roam the earth crushing generation X in its wake, but now all that’s left is one weekend a year, the midwest’s equivalent of Coachella. for 2009, the solid rumor (from the Chicago Tribune) is that Depeche Mode, Jane’s Addiction and The Beastie Boys are going to be headlining each night of the three day festival Aug 7th through the 9th, with The Killers, Tool, and Kings of Leon also rumored to be in the running. headliner barely matters anyway, as the supporting lineup last year was pretty slick, with Holy Fuck, Ting Tings, Gnarls Barkley, Explosions in the Sky, Broken Social Scene, Love and Rockets, Iron and Wine, MGMT, Mates of State, and a ton more. so this year will probably be just as fcuking amazing, and it looks like jesus satan (like the name, dad?!?!) will finally get to see Lollapalooza after all.
right now, there are three-day passes available for an early bird special rate of $175, as compared to the standard $249. get ’em while they last right here.
