“Gallery1988 (Venice) is proud to announce “What Went From A Whisper,” a solo show from Portland, OR artist Kurt Halsey. Kurt’s return to G1988, after a few year hiatus, is actually being billed as his “last show ever” by the artist himself. Known for his rabid fan base and emotionally compelling minimalist paintings and prints, Kurt’s last few years have been filled with inner conflicts and questions regarding his role in art and his future as a professional: which he seems to have answered, although almost 100% of his exhibits result in total sell-outs. Even with his “final show” declaration, Kurt’s art will live on forever, as thousands of his fans have his work tattooed on their bodies, and his artwork will continue to hang everywhere, from galleries to happy homes.

Experience a first, as an artist with worldwide recognition, acclaim and popularity, decides to no longer show at galleries, and celebrate his decision with one last final exhibition.

The show will open with a reception, with Kurt in attendance, on Feb. 3rd, from 7-10 PM. This show will run through March 3rd.”
