#Video #Documentary: Five Years & The End Of The World – Sacred Bones Records – Interviews with Zola Jesus, Wymond Miles and members of Cult of Youth

I have worked with Gavin Hignight on several projects over the years, and it is with great pleasure that I present the world premiere of his documentary on the young and yet already historic Sacred Bones record label. Titled “Five Years & the End of the World”, it’s a short with interviews from Zola Jesus, Wymond Miles and other luminaries from the Sacred Bones label captured during the celebratory five year anniversary show this last December at Pappy and Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace in Joshua Tree. The show featured performances by Cult of Youth, Lust For Youth, Psychic Ills, Pop 1280 and many more. You can find a number of photo galleries that I took of Zola Jesus here, including one of her first shows in L.A. at the Echo back in August of 2010.

From the concert announcement:
“Five years ago, Sacred Bones Records was formed to fill the need for releasing the work of musicians who otherwise wouldn’t have found a home. This aspect of pure originality and style led to enough success for more releases; and shortly after Sacred Bones had amassed a catalog of significant and genre-bending underground milestones. Artists like Blank Dogs and Zola Jesus found a platform for their voices, and delving deeper into its obsessions, Sacred Bones used its new-found footing to unearth incredible unheard artifacts from Cultural Decay and 13th Chime. Recently, releases from artists like Cult of Youth and Pop 1280 have been rounded out with perhaps the most personal of the label’s projects, the landmark expanded reissue of David Lynch’s Eraserhead Soundtrack.”
