Cinespia, you’re after jesus satan’s A/V geek heart. this is the tenth season of goth-tastic screenings at the Hollywood Forever cemetery and they’re really pulling out all the stops this year with an absolute tremendous selection of classic films. check out the rest of the lineup here and join the email list because there’s more to come. it goes through to September, i think. then try to see one or two or all of them. you can bring in picnic-y stuff (i.e. booze) and last year FUCKING PAUL REUBENS showed up to introduce the screening of Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, so you never know, there just might be a surprise or two. (although i’m pretty sure Bogey and Bergman ain’t showing for this one, unless it’s their ghosts. it is a graveyard in Hollywood, after all.)

to be honest, i don’t ever really sit around and jam to Ben Folds. he’s an excellent song writer, but i just am way too punk rawk to crank my stereo up while listening to a dude being all cornfed white boy ironic about things when i’m gettin’ ready to go out to thu cluuubb… nevertheless, Folds is an absolutely consummate performer, ever hilarious and ever entertaining (as you can see from the improv-ed Chatroulette vid below.) i saw him and William Shatner at the El Rey way back when and the night chock full of nerd awesome is still one of my favorite shows ever. the guy takes cheese and spins it into pure gold. Wed and Thurs he’s playing back to back shows at the Henry Fonda with brit cutie Kate Miller Heidke, and this is a three thumbs up show from j. satan. get your tickets for Wed and/or Thurs here.
