Arcade Fire is in the bushes outside your window…

August 30th, 2010

this was my "postcard to my younger self"...

usually, i’m running FROM my past, not TOWARDS it, Arcade Fire. check out this grim portend of dwindling privacy rights interactive video for The Wilderness Downtown, their new single, which uses Google Maps’ street view to harvest information on incorporate your home town into the video. kind of creepy fun. can’t embed it, so go here to see it in all of its’ Orwellian glory. they’re playing the Shrine Auditorium on Oct 7th and 8th, tix still available here and here.

TONIGHT: London based Fanfarlo sextets up the Troubadour

September 15th, 2009

Fanfarlo, the London based indie/ folk pop sextet’s debut album, Resevoir,  sounds a lot like David Byrne meets Arcade Fire. Produced by Peter Katis (The National, Interpol) and lead by Sweedish singer/ songwritter Simon Balthazar, Resevoir is chock full of well-crafted yet simple songs which make heavy use of trumpets, violins, guitars, drums, xylophones, saws (yes, saws) and banjos (yes, banjos). The entire album can be downloaded on iTunes currently for only $5.99 ( a wise investment), and you can also check them out live tonight at the Troubadour.  Even David Bowie claimed Fanfarlo one of his favorite new bands back in March (you realize I just name dropped David Bowie, which is why I’m able to keep this post short and sweet, like a chocolate covered midget).

The song below for “I’m A Pilot” speaks for itself.
