The Presets – Pretty Little Eyes (Poison Ivy video)

February 13th, 2010

the-presets-poison-ivy-nude-video-pretty-little-eyes

oh Poison Ivy, if only you were real. this world needs to suffer. The Presets ARE AMAZING by the way. this is their song called Pretty Little Eyes with a touching video tribute from editor Allure75, whom has a bunch of other goofy sci-fi/nerd video/porn tributes on his YouTube channel here. i’m a particular fan of his My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult’s Daisy Chain For Satan video remix with scenes of teens doing drugs cut together from 21 Jump Street. Too. UTTERLY. Amazing.

Friday Fun Links #18

October 16th, 2009

Congratulations to our friend Joe Sabia on being gobbled up by mashable, gizmodo, techcrunch, etc., etc., etc., for his innovative “google wave cinema” videos! Surely on it’s way to viral video status. Check out his other youtube hits at Whirled Citizen.

“I’ve read the articles, watched the instructional videos, and gotten an invite, but nothing—nothing—has done more to explain to me how this mind-melting Internet Thing works than Pulp Fiction, spectacularly adapted for Google Wave. (Warning: Tarantino language ahead)” – John Herrman @gizmodo

A fucking awesome collection of lego dudes. Many more can be seen at MacLane’s Flickr (Batman, Nightcrawler, Wonderwoman, T-1000, etc.)

-Download Lupe Fiasco’s bonus track “Solar Midnite” from the heavy-hitting Twilight soundtrack
-John Mayer’s new song gets HATED on in the A.V. Club’s pop culture love letters: “Who says John Mayer can’t make an “introspective” video without any modicum of interesting introspection at all? Who says?”

Artist to Admire: Sir Mike Mitchell.

September 17th, 2009

I was poking around my old bookmarked links and noticed Sir Mike added some new work to his website (check it out, it’s incredible and worth your time). He’s a wildly talented painter with a sly sense of humor… a rabbit leading a rabbit with a carrot? A bird using a jetpack? A person dressed as a squirrel walking a dog?

Miss precoce feroce, WTTD’s own lovely win0, previously bragged about her own Mike Mitchell purchases a while ago. Time to go back to his shop, he’s on his last run of T-shirts and new posters have been added. More imagery after the jump:

Keeping with the tradition of the super-hero-in-everyday-situation-meme, Ian Pool takes pictures of action figures doing funny, “normal” things. Turns out Doc Oc needs 6 arms so he can handle all of the Jonas Brothers simultaneously. Purity rings be damned…

More Ian Pool here.

picture-2Aw yeah, it’s just about nerd-o’clock on this coast, so here’s Gizmodo’s side-by-side comparison of Windows 7 vs. OS X Snow Leopard. Let’s get ready to rumble.

eff you PC, no eff you Mac

Holy. Shit. An amazing website called YooouuuTuuube allows you to enter any youtube url for a unique new viewing experience. It splits the entire video up into frames that it plays back across your computer screen row by row. Check out this example using the new Animal Collective video, “summertime clothes” or this video, a german Transformers clip.

Wikipedia imposes ban on a high-profile group, The Church of Scientology! Looks like scientologists have been using Wiki to promote their own personal agenda… you know, convincing people to worship alien ghosts and stuff…

Also, Cleveland dude Mike Polk gets a big Thank You! for ripping apart TNT’s NBA analyst crew. Amazing. “Reggie lives in the shadow of his sister”… “Kenny owes his career to Olajuwon”

ZAP! POW! BAM! The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books, 1938–1950

May 1st, 2009

i’ve been meaning to post about this for a while because i love comics so much, but i’ve been too busy getting beaten up by bullies who take my lunch money. Skirball is hosting an exhibit on comics, and it looks pretty amazing. though it’s up until August 9th, Tuesday, May 12th is probably the best day to go because the Skirball is screening the Adam West Batman, which is the only movie in the series that matters. sadly, it’s at 1.30 pm. happily, it’s free with the $10 admission.

ZAP! POW! BAM! The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books, 1938–1950

February 19-August 9, 2009

ADMISSION:

Included with Museum admission (tickets at the door): $10 General; $7 Seniors and Full-Time Students; $5 Children 2–12; Free to Members and Children under 2; Free to all on Thursdays

Through never-before exhibited art and objects culled from private and institutional collections, ZAP! POW! BAM! The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books, 1938-1950 explores the genesis of cultural icons such as Superman, Batman, Captain Marvel, and Wonder Woman. In the midst of the economic and political turmoil of the 1930s and 1940s, comic books offered America champions who shaped the values of an entire generation. ZAP! POW! BAM! examines the creative processes and influences that drove young Jewish artists to express their talents through the storylines and art of comic books. The exhibition features rare vintage artwork and books, 1940s Hollywood movie serials, and colorful interactive displays including a drawing studio, a newsstand, a vintage Batmobile ride, and stations that allow children to dress up as Superheroes or transform themselves via a quick costume change in a telephone booth. Guest curator Jerry Robinson brings a long history as a comic book industry insider to the exhibition. Working with Batman co-creators Bob Kane and Bill Finger, Robinson named Robin, Batman’s young protégé. Robinson also co-created The Joker, Batman’s nemesis and one of the first Super-Villains.

“A mind-blowing collection.”—LA Weekly

Artist to Admire: Francesco Francavilla.

April 27th, 2009

Mr. Francavilla’s artwork is a lot of fun. I came across him while performing some digital pack-rattery over at Fuck Yeah, Batman. His comic illustrations aren’t just run-of-the-mill page filler, they ooze with personality and style. Kind of reminiscient of the old-school. Remember The Hardy Boys? I do. Does that make me gay? Anyway, look at the way he conveys Batman, sweet:
