Dinosaur Jr. – Seemed Like The Thing To Do
not too surprisingly, indie rock’s elder statesmen Dinosaur Jr. are returning tonight to Los Angeles after two sold out shows at the Troubadour in June. they’re playing the House of Blues Sunset Strip, and the place will be lucky to still be standing after J., Lou and Murph finish plugging in those purple amps. i’ve said it before, and i’ll say it again. loudest fucking band in America. (My Bloody Valentine doesn’t count, they’re from the Old Country.)
i imagine at this point that the inside of J. Mascis’ ears sounds like the scene in Fight Club when Ed Norton gets done shooting a bullet through his mouth and there’s nothing but ringing while people mouth things to him and look worried…

not too surprisingly, indie rock’s elder statesmen Dinosaur Jr. are returning to Los Angeles after two sold out shows at the Troubadour last month. they’re playing November 5th at the House of Blues Sunset Strip, and the place will be lucky to still be standing after J., Lou and Murph finish plugging in those purple amps. said it before, and i’ll say it again… loudest fucking band in America. I’ll be honest, I don’t know much about Mark Mulcahy, but wikipedia does. He was the frontman for Miracle Legion and Polaris who were responsible for the music and theme song of Nickelodeon’s, The Adventure’s of Pete & Pete…. Yes. That I know much about.
I’m guessing it’s because he was part of such an amazing television show that he’s got an amazing cast of famous musician bros. His wife just died, leaving him to care of 3 year old twins, so his musical-bro-posse put together a tribute/benefit album for the guy. Awww.
Ciao My Shining Star: The Songs of Mark Mulcahy is due out September 29th. Seriously, amazing talent involved, here’s the tracklist:
01 Thom Yorke: “All for the Best”
02 The National: “Ashamed of the Story I Told”
03 Michael Stipe: “Everything’s Coming Undone”
04 David Berkeley: “Love’s the Only Thing That Shuts Me Up”

Dinosaur Jr. – I Want You To Know
put in your earplugs, West Hollywood, and tape the windows to keep them from shattering. Dinosaur Jr. is bringing their wall of sound to the Troubadour tonight (sold out with Earthless) and tomorrow night (some tickets still available with Crystal Antlers). they’re (just barely) the second loudest band i have ever seen. (my ears are still bleeding from last year, My Bloody Valentine. you can expect a letter from my lawyers…)
yes, these are legitimate Dinosaur Jr. Nike dunks... and you better not fcuking bid me up on eBay...
