just too many amazing shows tonight to go into in full (so check out Oh My Rockness here), but jesus satan is hitting WTTD fav Leslie and the Lys at the Echoplex with Christopher and the Conquered (tickets here) (and i’m totally going to make another jesus satan sandwich with the Leslie and the Lys backup dancers.)
a bunch of j. satan’s fav newish bands are hitting sunny Los Angeles so yay for me! The Smith Westerns and Best Coast are opening for the stellar Cold Cave tonight and tomorrow at the Glasshouse in Pomona and at the Echoplex in Echo Park respectively. AVI Buffalo (meh… not so great live, though i do like their studio music) also opens tonight at the Glasshouse. both shows are all ages but whaddayagonnado? this is a three thumbs up show from jesus satan, the show this last December in Eagle Rock was painfully short, but well worth the drive nonetheless.
sad that you weren’t able to get Thom Yorke tickets for the Orpheum this weekend? well now you can be sad because you won’t be able to get tickets to the Echoplex (1154 Glendale Blvd, 90026), either. they’re going on sale via Ticketweb here at noon. limit of two per person. good luck, America. you’ll be needing it. sharing a pen-shant for all-capital-letter names but eschewing the pretentiousness that is YACHT, Los Angeles promised-peoples HEALTH are playing the Troubadour (9081 Santa Monica, 90069) tonight on their headlining lonesome as a quick addendum for their opening slots on the last two Nine Inch Nails’ performances ever this week.
surprisingly, the show still has tickets available, so get ‘em here, and be sure to get there early to catch Pictureplane, Mi Ami and Dam-funk so that you can tell me what they sound like because i’ve never heard of any of them. here’s a new video from HEALTH for the single Die Slow. they even directed it themselves, those hipster swine show-offs…

Hipster bro, Wavves, just came off of playing a few shows with a broken wrist. Sweet deal trooper, now he’s taking a break to take care of the break. In the note announcing the surgery on his blog (recently updated: Wavves bro just beat Resident Evil 5 and is moving on to Metal Gear Solid 4, rock on) he also gave us the new Mickey Mouse demo track above… It’s surprisingly great. Surprising because he comes off as a fucking hipster gimmick but I gotta admit, a lot of his stuff shows promise. This demo has real Noah Lennox vibe going on.
To make things tastier, he’s touring with one of my favorite new indie sensations: Ganglians (cool enough to warrant a PF review here), who we’ve posted about before if you wanna go listen (you should).

ok, folks. tonight is the night. supposedly. Nine Inch Nails tickets for their last four shows EVER are going on sale at 5pm PDT. of course, as of right now, NIN’s website is totally down and Reznor’s Twitter is also down. so there is no information whatsoever. good luck, America. you’ll need it.
NIN is hitting the Henry Fonda, Wiltern, Echoplex and Hollywood Palladium in September, and speaking of bids, presale tickets will be available through the NIN site at different times for each show. these places are hella small… information is supposed to be available here at the tour portion of their site, and you’ll need to sign up with YOUR REAL NAME in order to get tickets. if anything comes back up in time, that is.
