reunited and it feels so fine. i guess that Foo Fighters thing never really worked out, as Sunny Day Real Estate is playing the Henry Fonda / Music Box tonight with all original members. has anyone told Dave Grohl? boy, his bands just never seem to find any success… this is a three thumbs up, highly recommended show from jesus satan. see you there.
Casiotone For The Painfully Alone – Casiotone For The Painfully Alone Is A Yellow T-shirt
this song makes me cry every time i listen to it and if it doesn’t touch you then you have no soul. (yes, world, jesus satan can cry. granted, it’s usually when i stub my toe or hurt my penis or something like that, but it still counts.) anywho, über-emo Casiotone For The Painfully Alone i.e. Owen Ashworth and his schtick of cheesy minimal electronic keyboard beats and forlorned whispering that somehow manages to rip your heart asunder with its deploringly honest lyricism while all you can do is scream out because for the first time you know what it is to really feel is playing the Echo tonight and you can be fucking sure i’ll be there. especially because tickets are all Fugazi style at only $8.
there just is no other band in the world that sounds even remotely like this project, and since 2006 Ashworth has moved beyond old rundown keyboards that he finds at thrift stores to incorporate a litany of other instruments and conspirators. on this tour he’s even sporting a full blown backing band. basically, he’s a little happier this days, which is nice, because a mother worries.
this is by far a three thumbs up show from jesus satan, so hopefully i’ll see you there and we can cry together. it’ll be cathartic, and then the healing can finally begin. (go check out his albums here at Tomlab, too.) Concern, Former Ghosts, and Second to Second open.
