The Drifter Contest Giveaway!

November 25th, 2009

DRIFTER
Gobble gobble bitches! It’s almost turkey time and you know what that means… ‘Tis the season for intense food comas, awkward war stories from Uncle Ed, fun trips through airport security, and spending time with the people you love most..your alcoholic friends on Wednesday night. But since we know the REAL spirit of the season is giving, we’d like to give something back to you guys. So who likes free stuff?

The Drifter, coming to DVD on December 8th, is a different kind of surf movie. It tells the story of Rob Machado’s journey to go way beyond his comfort zone and become completely isolated from the world with his own thoughts and dreams. Kinda like what Kanye West did with his career. “The Drifter is a visual metaphor for a free spirit’s conscious abandonment of the worldly traps of modern life as he searches for the inner freedom and spiritual joy offered by a life of renunciation

So here’s what we’re giving away to ONE lucky winner (must be from the US):
- 1 copy of The Drifter on DVD
- 1 bar of Rob’s own organic blend of surf wax (see below)
- 1 copy of the latest issue of FILTER, which includes a sweet Drifter feature

Oh and look at this ridiculous soundtrack for the flick:
Jon Swift
Rob Machado
Stardeath & White Dwarfs
The Black Keys
By The Fireside
The Raconteurs
Midlake
Iron & Wine
Tegan & Sara
Jon and Roy
The Len Brown Society
Dr. Dog
Brett Dennen
Bon Iver
Jose Gonzalez
MGMT
Yeasayer
The Shins

All you have to do to enter is comment on this post wishing us an AMAZING Happy Thanksgiving and we’ll select a winner at random with our patented eenie-meenie-miney-moe system. Good luck and Happy Holidays!

Photo Gallery: The Ting Tings Team Up with Adidas and Get Messy @ Hollywood Underground.

September 28th, 2009

Here is what they told us when we got a special invite to this event:

“The high energy, dance party-meets-collective painting session will transform a former club space in Hollywood. Members of the band and every attendee will don a classic black adidas Originals tracksuit while dancing and wildly painting the walls and themselves with hundreds of gallons of bright neon paint. The revellers will party with reckless abandon and enjoy live music by The Ting Tings.”

Check out our photos of the (w)reckless abandon that ensued:

GIVEAWAY: Enter to Win a Copy of the Inglourious Basterds Soundtrack and more!

Ennio Morricone – Theme from The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

To celebrate the release of Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, for which we anticipate smashing box office returns since nothing else worth seeing opens this weekend (X Games 3D: The Movie?), we are teaming up with Filter Magazine to give one lucky winner a copy of the film’s soundtrack along with some other goodies.

As evidenced by the eclectic soundtracks to such previous films as Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, and Kill Bill, Tarantino is a huge music fan and treats music as an important character in each of his films. He’s chosen hella awesome spaghetti western aficionado Ennio Morricone as his particular muse this time around, which should be a fairly amazing match to a WWII torture-porn-slash-comedy. Oh, and, uh, for some reason there’s a David Bowie song from that weirdo Cat People movie from the eighties. Quentin, Quentin… When will you stop trying so hard to be so cool? You had us at hello. See the tracklist below.

Also, if you’re in Los Angeles go visit Amoeba Records in Hollywood TONIGHT, August 20th. Tarantino is there for a special signing and an exclusive midnight screening of the highly anticipated film. Actually, unless you just want to look through the windows, don’t. It’s way sold out. WTTD just likes to tease.

Now then, as for our big deal contest:
