haunting new video for Grizzly Bear’s Ready, Able. i don’t like claymation that scares me : o (
check out more work from director Allison Schulnik at her website here. IF YOU DARE.
does anyone remember when Dave Letterman used to be funny? i swear to god he used to be funny. Grizzly Bear doing “Ready, Able” on the Late Show.
2) Vice interview with Donnie Andrews, the real life Omar Little of The Wire. Gangstaaa. (FYI: Pres. Obama says Omar is his favorite character on the show. That’s right people, OBAMA’s favorite character from his favorite show is a ruthless, gay murderer with a Robin Hood streak.)
“A stick-up artist… you take your modern-day gangsters and you put them in a hat, you got the Dapper Don who had Sammy The Bull, Al Capone had Frank Nitti. These are guys who were enforcers, they make the gangsters – if it wasn’t for us, them guys called gangsters wouldn’t exist.” – Donnie
3) Weezy lyrics on Snack’s n Shit. Haaaa. Rappers are silly people.
4) Gorilla vs Bear gives us their “favorite albums of the first half of ‘09“… not feeling it. AnCo too low, White Denim too high (coming from a BIG fan) and Phoenix just bores me. Thoughts?
5) Watch Weiner Falls, a parody of Dawson’s Creek… with more ballz:
Things they’ll have: “DODGEBALL, basketball, DJ’s, bands, burgers the works!”
Things you shouldn’t bring: Click here (funny ha ha).

This is going to get bigger and better so I’m gonna keep you updated as soon as word gets out. Tickets are on sale now for $35. The action takes place July 17th to July 19th in Chicago’s Union Park.

I slid by this album a few weeks ago but hot damn, it’s fucking good. It was put together by Red Hot, an organization based out of NY that arranges albums to raise money for AIDS charities. So anyway, here’s the projected line up from Dark Was The Night’s site:
Sunday May 3 at Radio City Music Hall featuring several of the artists that contributed to the compilation including Dave Sitek, Dirty Projectors, Feist, My Brightest Diamond, The National, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings plus more to be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, March 13 at 11am via Ticketmaster. Dark Was The Night – Live begins at 8pm (doors will open at 7).
Since then we’ve heard David Byrne and Grizzly Bear will be joining in the ruckus, according to Feist. Who may or may not be lying. But that’d be mean. And I don’t picture her as a liar, her voice is too delicate for harsh words. Although I suppose that’s how they get ya… (seriously I don’t know who’s confirmed but it will be a great show regardless).
