here’s a dose-tastic new video for Another World from the Chemical Brothers, sort of like watching a digitized lava lamp. i’m really looking forward to their upcoming show at the Hollywood Bowl (tickets here) with Chromeo and WTTD arch-enemies YACHT (seriously, you have to check out that thread), as well as host Jason Bentley, who used to be a helluva DJ before he became KCRW’s music director. the Chems are kind of known for their intense visuals, so load up your picnic baskets with the drogas, Angelenos, security at the Bowl ain’t exactly tight. (Further, their new album, comes highly recommended from jesus satan, by the way.)
congratulations to the winner of our Swell Season/She & Him/Bird and the Bee contest, Miss Allison Klein of Los Angeles. it was too tough of a decision for us, you have no idea the unique horror of judging so many impossibly cute Zooey Deschanel pictures, so we decided to go with the image above by throwing darts at our computer screen. (that bitch stole my dog’s look!!! you don’t want to piss off Mr Fluffy, Zooey. it’ll be a battle of adorable that even YOU can’t win.) thanks to all who entered! some of the more choice entries are posted below, but beware, know that to stare too long into those doe eyes is too risk your very soul.

my god... she's armed with a kitten in this one. it's a cuteness assault unlike any this world has ever seen.

Zooey showing her true nature...
this was right after she'd savagely murdered a man. there was blood EVERYWHERE, but this picture was so cute the police let her go with a stern warning.
no, Zooey, i would NOT like to listen to records with you all night long. please stop asking. it's getting to be a little pathetic... seriously.

the Vans Warped Tour “kicks off” at the Home Depot Center in Carson. un-fucking-believable… sorry, going to wax disaffected youth for a sec… punk used to be the antithesis of selling out and here we have the “Vans” Warped Tour at the “Home Depot” center… kind of makes me remember why i stopped listening to that shit. regardless, there are some great old-skool bands on the tour, including Angry Samoans, Agent Orange, Dickies (who are always always always absolutely amazing live), GBH, Pennywise, Adolescents, Casualties, and others. Saturday it hits Shoreline Ampitheatre in Mountain View (tickets) and Sunday they’re in Ventura at Seaside Park (tickets).
speaking of punk, there’s a Grease sing-a-long at the Hollywood Bowl. O-M-G!!! (discounted tickets available at Goldstar here)
