jesus satan sure loves me some Electric Six. singer Dick Valentine’s tongue in someone else’s cheek brand of rock n’ roll humor just never gets old… at least not to an infant like me. case in point, here, also, is their classic Gay Bar, featuring animation from Joel Veitch at Rather Good, the flash animation that started it all. The Sounds are sneaking out after dark from opening gigs for No Doubt’s big fancy tour a few days ago at the Gibson Theater in Univeral City to have a secret little rendezvous with their Los Angeles fans. they’re playing a close up and personal show at the Key Club tonight, though it’s likely you ain’t getting in unless you already have tickets.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo is playing tonight at the Conga Room, and that’s pretty much the only show worth going to unless you want to check out The Adicts in Anaheim at the House of Blues. they’re playing Saturday night at The Key Club, though, with rad early skate punk band The Dickies, and L.A. is always better than the OC unless you like hanging out with little surfer kids (shame on you!). both bands are great live… full of life despite how old the o.g. punk rockers are these days. you probably want to get tickets for Mambozo before the show, since it will likely sell out. they’re available here, and you should pick up tix for Los Lobos next week at The Conga Room, too.
haha. hoo boy. while jesus satan wholeheartedly recommends adding nudity to almost every situation, you’re just going to have a hard time sexing up bingo. nonetheless, these people are trying. if you want to go to help out the Chihuahuas (i also love racist charities… Chihuahuas in, all other dogs out…) by staring at girls in skimpy clothing and playing grandma games, then here is a link for discounted tickets. ’cause you don’t want to have to give TOO much to the ugly little bastards.
also, from what i can tell on the Key Club site, Lisa D’amato, some model girl from some model show, is either opening up, hosting or playing… there isn’t much information, but it is pretty clear from the extensive bio on her wikipedia page that it is more or less written by her, so i’m sure she’ll be interesting to watch, but probably not in the way she means to be (i.e. “good”). i love L.A. it’s a town fed by its own ego, and yes, jesus satan fits right in.
