here is the annual fake Coachella lineup for 2010 (thanks Los Anjealous). jesus satan will shit his pants if Faith No More is there, and i’m guessing that a lot of these other bands are actually pretty solid bets. The xx, Major Lazer, and Vampire Weekend are all a given. Public Image Ltd is a good possibility, as is Devo, The Antlers, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Imogen Heap and La Roux. i also wouldn’t be surprised about LCD Soundsystem and Massive Attack, both have new albums coming out this year  - R.I.P. Jerry Fuchs : o (

tonight Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros are playing the Mayan in Los Angeles. here are a couple of nonsensical videos (or, if you really think about it (i.e. do drugs) are they sensical??? nahhhhh……) from their eponymous debut, Up From Below. also, the chanting guy in the beginning of Desert Song is real footage of Sharpe’s father getting his om on with little baby Edward in his arms, which kind of gives you a sense of where the singer is coming from… literally.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros have released a new video for Kisses Over Babylon. it’s the second release in a scheduled twelve part opus where Edward is wandering through the desert of his own ego or something incredibly pretentious and self-involved like that. don’t get me wrong, i’m really digging on the Edward Sharpe et al, and i’m totally looking forward to their upcoming show on December 14th at the Mayan. (tickets are still available here. last show sold out if i recall correctly, so pick them up fast.) Kisses Over Babylon also totally has an Ennio Morricone sound to it, which is awesome and makes it hardly surprising as to how much the video looks like it was directed by Sergio Leone.

this is jesus satan’s holy dayz…. there’s so much going on in Los Angeles this weekend that i’m going to just start posting events, etc. without much commentary. you all know how much i’m in love with my own wit, but i just won’t be able to roll like that over the next few days. plus i gotta get all dressed up.

to start the festivities, here’s a new Halloween-ish video from Sea Wolf. (i love the cinematography, very James Whale.) they’re playing at the Legendary Park Plaza Hotel this Saturday for the KCRW Masquerade along with DJ Shadow (yay!), Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros (yay!), Little Dragon (who?) and a bunch of KCRW DJs. unfortunately, it’s a whopping $75 a ticket (here – although proceeds benefit KCRW), so if you don’t get to check them out there, they will also be playing some gay-ass free show at Hollywood/Highland on Nov. 6th for the release of the Twilight: New Moon soundtrack with Death Cab for Cutie, Anya Marina and Band of Skulls. when i get more information on that, i’ll be sure to let you know since there will likely be screaming pre-teens everywhere and i know what a bunch of child predators you all are.

Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros are playing a sold out show tonight at the El Rey so who cares because i can’t go and you probably can’t either, unless you already have tickets. but whatev because the only reason i’m even saying something is because i wanted to post this motherfucking amazing video for Desert Song, in which, and this is direct from the band’s Myspace video page, “This is PART 1 of a 12-Part feature-length movie musical. Part 1: Desert Song is about singer Alex Ebert’s reckoning with the middle name his father secretly wrote on his birth certificate – a Native American name which means ‘Devil’ or ‘Demon’. The opening footage is of his father chanting in Monument Valley – shot by his mother.”
