Orgone opens and tickets are available here. (thanks, Blarg.)
man, my childhood was really fucked up because i find this video for Substitution totally, totally erotic. Silversun Pickups are on tour right now, but it’s in the UK. so who gives a shit, right? well UK tour mates Placebo are offering a free sampler download with a couple exclusive live tracks from the Pickups, as well as songs from Expatriate, The Horrors, and a live track from United. you have to sign up to Placebo’s newsletter at their website here.
Wow. Check out Beyonce’s kid sister, Solange Knowles, flexing her golden pipes to the Dirty Projectors’ “Stillness is the Move”… she kills it. On top of Dre’s “XXplosive” beat no less. Damn this family has some genes. I know next to nothing about Solange but I feel bad for her…standing in the shadow of BEYONCE. The shadow of her ass alone is enough to keep you in the dark forever. Throw in the fact that she’s one of the biggest stars on the planet and one half of the biggest power couple on the planet (B and Jay are Hollywood’s top earning couple according to ABC news)… those are some big shoes to fill.
EDIT:revoking “I feel bad for her” …she’s a multi-millionaire dimepiece what the fuck was a thinking?
This track will be the opener for the upcoming AnCo EP, Fall Be Kind, due out November 23rd. Starts off mellow and dreamy and turns into a folksy picnic dance around the 3:15 mark… standard Animal Collective vibe, obviously. Will you be listening to the new EP?
Happy Friday the 13th! Ahhhhhh!! Eminem is returning to Hollywood! AHHHHHHHH! He’s playing the lead role in a 3-D horror flick called Shady Talez! YaaaAAAA! Look how they spelled Tales!! Yes this is all true, and the above image is part of a 4-issue Marvel comic series that will accompany the movie. No word on a release date yet…
Dan Deacon HOSPITALIZED! Whoa. Apparently he performs with such ferocity that he totally fucked up his back and had to cancel the rest of his tour.
A post on the Facebook page for Deacon’s show at Clark University tomorrow night says, “DAN DEACON HAS POSTPONED THIS SHOW on 11/14/2009 DUE TO HOSPITALIZATION WITH ACUTE SCIATICA. THE SHOW WILL BE RESCHEDULED TO JANUARY.” – Pitchfork
Beanie Sigel ft. 50 Cent – I Go Off
The Beanie Sigel vs. Jay-Z feud just got ridiculous…Sigel went and recruited 50 Cent and they put together a shall-we-say, ‘gutter,’ diss track for Mr. Empire State himself. That snarling Beanie Sigel has a lot of anger towards jigga, I’m still not really sure why, but if jay doesn’t respond it’s gonna be pretty…anti-climactic. Especially after 50 calls him out at the end: “It’s your move.”
Is everyone excited for New Moon!?
And for all you New Yorkers willing to brave this icy weather, here’s what’s going on in the music world tonight:
not too surprisingly, indie rock’s elder statesmen Dinosaur Jr. are returning tonight to Los Angeles after two sold out shows at the Troubadour in June. they’re playing the House of Blues Sunset Strip, and the place will be lucky to still be standing after J., Lou and Murph finish plugging in those purple amps. i’ve said it before, and i’ll say it again. loudest fucking band in America. (My Bloody Valentine doesn’t count, they’re from the Old Country.)
i imagine at this point that the inside of J. Mascis’ ears sounds like the scene in Fight Club when Ed Norton gets done shooting a bullet through his mouth and there’s nothing but ringing while people mouth things to him and look worried…
Passion Pit sold out a grip of shows here in Los Angeles a while back, so they’re going to grace us with their presence once more with a show tonight at the Henry Fonda. i like them, actually. everyone does. they’re just soooooooo popular. big fcuking whoop, Passion Pit. oooh, so everyone’s your friend? so everyone likes you? well you’ll get yours, Passion Pit. i didn’t want to be your friend, anyway.
ha, i love internet searches. turns out there is a Loverboy song named 'Passion Pit', and i'm guessing that's what they're named after. well played, Passion Pit. well played.
reunited and it feels so fine. i guess that Foo Fighters thing never really worked out, as Sunny Day Real Estate is playing the Henry Fonda / Music Box tonight with all original members. has anyone told Dave Grohl? boy, his bands just never seem to find any success… this is a three thumbs up, highly recommended show from jesus satan. see you there.
