TONIGHT: 60 Watt Kid is electric (haha, get it?) at the Echo in Los Angeles

November 10th, 2009

hey! in the mood for Animal Collective but not willing to pay outrageous bigshot prices for traveling to wherever it is in the world that they are? great! have i got the show for you! tonight 60 Watt Kid plays the Echo with Best Coast and Gowns. they have plenty of good rapport about town for good live shows and stuff, and even a low-rent version of Animal Collective is still better than no Animal Collective.
here’s a video of their new single Ocsicnarf Nas from a recent performance at the Smell to give you a little taste. (i’m guessing they’re a little more exciting in person.) you can also check out the official video over at Stereogum who is aparently much cooler than us as it’s not yet available to stream from elsewhere. i thought we meant something to you, 60 Watt Kid.

VIDEO: Shuck N’ Jive P.S.A. Featuring Nas and Nick Cannon.

October 12th, 2009

Is Nas inadvertently re-enforcing what he opposes here?

I’m not sure what to say except… “Nick Cannon is hilaaaarious!”

NEW VIDEO: Drake ft. Kanye, Lil’ Wayne, & Eminem – “Forever”

September 23rd, 2009

I’ve heard of the upcoming LeBron James documentary, More Than A Game, (coming October 2nd) but I’m still not sure why it exists… isn’t it a little early to start making movies about the dude’s life at this point? It’s like making a film about TINT’s rise to the top of the hipster kingdom… jeez at least wait til I get there. Last time I checked LBJ doesn’t even have a ring soo let’s all hold off on the BJ’s for a second. If you’re interested, you can listen to King James talk about the flick here… apparently it’s focused on his High School career or something.

Anyway, since this is basketball and not hockey, the film will have a G’d up hip hop soundtrack. The video below is the latest from Hype Williams for Drake’s song, “Forever” featuring. Kanye West, Lil’ Wayne, & Eminem, it’s the featured song for the movie… I don’t really get the “hype” behind Hype Williams, I mean besides “Belly” and “California Love” I think he basically wallows in mediocrity, am I right? Oh and I can’t forget Missy Elliot’s “The Rain”… fantastic. And Nas’s “Hate Me Now”… haha and he made Busta Rhymes “Woo Hah!” ok I get it, he’s a master of the fisheye.
