There’s a LOT to do this weekend. Let’s start with some feather-weight fun for the faint of heart. Redondo Beach has been hosting free concerts all summer long, every Thursday and Saturday. I’m sure this weekend’s festivities will be extra special because of YAY-AMERICA-Day!
“Over 20 bands will perform music of many genres including Blues, Country, Hawaiian, Jazz, Rock, Salsa, Swing and Surf. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a light blanket and beach chair for better enjoyment of the music and sunsets.”
The Redondo Pier Association presents the 2009 Art and Jazz Festival. This is going down all weekend, Saturday May 2nd and Sunday May 3rd from 10 am to 6 pm. Unfortunately I have to move this weekend, which sucks, so the only advice I can give is “do lots of drugs kids”… because we all know smooth jazz, lovely weather and hypnotic ocean sounds make it legitimately impossible to resist that sweet, sweet doobie. Also, all of those aforementioned things suck without that sweet, sweet doobie.
From the pier association:
“The new spring event will offer a wonderful variety of artisans and jazz ensembles along the Redondo Beach pier. Attendees can shop and stroll to the sounds of jazz and waves. The free two-day event will feature over 50 vendors including several local artists. The Art & Jazz Festival is the latest free community event to come to the Redondo Beach Pier and the first live concert event of the year. The annual Summer of Music concert series returns to the pier on the 4th of July.”
