The Submarines‘ new video for Submarine Symphonika is so cute it makes me want to do something truly horrific just to even out the tao a little. director Josh Forbes also made the awesome video for Peace and Hate, and he has a ton more music videos available for your perusal at his Winch&Pulley site, including videos for Sea Wolf, Cold War Kids, Ariel Pink, Alkaline Trio, and a ton more. (this one for Trouble is a Friend from hipster cutie Lenka is pretty slick, although you might want to turn down the volume and just watch the illustrations. oooh, burn!)
this is jesus satan’s holy dayz…. there’s so much going on in Los Angeles this weekend that i’m going to just start posting events, etc. without much commentary. you all know how much i’m in love with my own wit, but i just won’t be able to roll like that over the next few days. plus i gotta get all dressed up.
to start the festivities, here’s a new Halloween-ish video from Sea Wolf. (i love the cinematography, very James Whale.) they’re playing at the Legendary Park Plaza Hotel this Saturday for the KCRW Masquerade along with DJ Shadow (yay!), Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros (yay!), Little Dragon (who?) and a bunch of KCRW DJs. unfortunately, it’s a whopping $75 a ticket (here – although proceeds benefit KCRW), so if you don’t get to check them out there, they will also be playing some gay-ass free show at Hollywood/Highland on Nov. 6th for the release of the Twilight: New Moon soundtrack with Death Cab for Cutie, Anya Marina and Band of Skulls. when i get more information on that, i’ll be sure to let you know since there will likely be screaming pre-teens everywhere and i know what a bunch of child predators you all are.
“But, – and there it is, – we want to live and move, though we have no reason to, because it happens that it is the nature of life to live and move, to want to live and move. If it were not for this, life would be dead. It is because of this life that is in you that you dream of your immortality.” – Wolf Larsen. From The Sea-Wolf, by Jack London. (yes, they are named after a novel, get over yourself).
If you want in on this night of great music and hipster fun, give us your best Jack London quote in the comments section below. First awesome quote wins. Annnnnndddd…. GO!
