here’s a new beautifully depressing cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Sisters of Mercy” from Beck and pals’ record club series. they’re about halfway through Cohen’s seminal Songs of Leonard Cohen on the site, and while you’re there, check out a wealth of other despondent goodness that i’ve mentioned before. i’m betting the next album Beck chooses to cover will be a little more upbeat. i think he mentioned Ace of Base at one point.

Hey broke NY music fans! looking for an awesome way to spend your Sundays? Well I sure as fuck got one. This summer, JELLY is producing 8 FREE shows on at the riverfront in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, 90 Kent Ave btw N8th and N9th St. The shows will all take place on Sundays between the 12th of July and the 30th of August, from 2-8pm. And this isn’t what you’d expect for the free shows, this is the good stuff. I’ll be going to at least half of these, so if you want your picture taken, just lose some clothing and play on the slip n’ slide.
