Last Rites Gallery caters to a certain “dark” aesthetic. Sometimes goth, sometimes dark pop, sometimes steampunk, otherworldly, sci-fi, fantasy, etc. What I’m trying to say is, this probably isn’t your grandma’s type of place. If it is, then wow you probably had the “cool parents” when you were a kid. Or you’re batshit insane. Either way, they have a great show happening tonight…details:

every second Thursday of the month is the Downtown Art Walk where trusting artistic souls open more than thirty galleries as well as their hearts to the Los Angeles public. usually there are lots of random people, lots of booze, and lots of damage… and for once it’s not just me. here are a few of the highlights from tonight:

Crewest has their seven year anniversary surprise with live beats by DJ Phyz Ed (best DJ name ever) and live printing by Two Rabbits, plus art from a TON of artists.

Thinkspace is invading the Citzen LA Downtown Art Park (458 S. Main Street in downtown Los Angeles 90013 (between 4th & 5th) with live painting from Mear One (fucking rad!) and Ekundayo.

the Hive Gallery is still showing it’s May collective (Hive? collective? get it?) of artists, as well as musical type performances. they usually charge, too, so here’s your chance to see stuff there for free.
