tickets go on sale for this summer’s Hard Fest LA with headliner M.I.A. this Saturday at noon. you can get them directly from the Hard Fest site here, though they sell their tickets through Fla.vor.us, so it might be faster to go straight there. not a huge fan, personally, but i do like this flyer, and Rye Rye, who is opening, is full of rad. Sleigh Bells, Theophilus London, 12th Planet, Ninjasonik, Nguzunguzu and Destructo are also on the lineup. break out the drugs, party people. speaking of party people, here’s Bloody Beetroots‘ revolutionary new video for Domino. (love those Grendel masks guys. and the New Order sample, too.) there are still tickets available for their April 24th show at the Palladium in Hollywood here, with WTTD pal Steve Aoki, Rifoki, Sidney Samson, and, of course, Destructo. (man, that guy is just everywhere.)

new sort of Halloween-y video from Modeselektor, who are playing the Forum in Los Angeles at HARD Haunted Mansion on the second day of the festival (October 30th + October 31st – tickets are still available here). not an amazing lineup, but definitely good enough for ecstacy-lovers, with performances from Justice, Deadmau5, 2ManyDJs, A-Trak, Bloody Beetroots, Basement Jaxx, Crookers, Major Lazer, WTTD homeboy Steve Aoki, Classixx, and more.
New Yorkers, don’t feel all left out in the cold (even if you are, hee hee, ’cause we live in Los Angeles where even when it’s raining it’s hella comfortable) because Modeselektor has a headlining show all their own the following weekend at the Music Hall of Williamsburg (November 7th – tickets are available here.)

Underworld is one of my top ten, hands fucking down, and they’re headlining a stellar lineup for Hard Fest this coming Saturday that includes, oh, you know, just a couple of acts you may have heard of, like Crystal Castles, Amanda Blank (who is about to be fcuking huge), Rye Rye (ditto), The Bloody Beetroots, Chromeo (i can’t stand ‘em personally, but i know how much the ladies love them. and jesus satan isn’t above a little pretense when it comes to the ladies…), A-Trak, Crookers, WTTD homeboy Steve Aoki (not really… he’s probably never even heard of us but he IS in a picture here in the WTTD galleries, so it counts…), Tiga, Destructo, etc. etc. etc. blah blah blah… look what it comes down to is that there will be lots of DRUGS AND ECSTASY AND GHB because there is electronic music, which is probably all i really need to say. see you there. the festival hits, drops and other double entendres at the Forum in Inglewood. more info here.

tonight Fritz Helder & The Phantoms will be celebrating the release of their debut album, Greatest Hits: Platinum Edition (hee hee, get it? it’s their first album, but they’re calling it Greatest Hits: Platinum Edition? ha!) at Cinespace for Dim Mak’s (i.e. Steve Aoki and The Cobra Snake and pals) weekly Tuesday event. the event is hosted by Nelly Furtado who is releasing the record under her new indie label, Nelstar Music. to me they sound a lot like a Scissor Sisters that doesn’t suck, but you can judge for yourself after watching the fcuking sweet video above. most importantly, there is free vodka from 10-11, which means jesus satan will be at this one, folks, in case you needed any extra incentive. follow the white rabbit.

The Standard Downtown opens up for a poolside party with DJ sets from Telepathe (who are also playing The Smell later in the evening), Nosaj Thing, IAMSOUND(SYSTEM), BLAQSTARR, Paul Devro and Erik Devereux. you have to RSVP here.

there are also a buttload of art/gallery openings at POVevolving with “A Touch of Evil”, Billy Shire Fine Arts with three amazing shows from Carrie Ann Baade, Christopher Ulrich and KS Rives, Exhibit A with Shepard Fairey and a bunch of others, Black Maria Gallery with the Swoon show from artist Kristian Adam, Cerasoli and Roberts & Tilton galleries in Culver City both have openings, and Blind Tiger and Cannibal Flower have teamed up to present a group show at the New Puppy Gallery downtown.
