i have no doubt this movie is going to be typical White Stripes magic. i was watching some of their music videos the other day, and i’m consistently amazed at how good everything they touch is. i mean, just look at this god damn flyer?!?!? there is a special screener this Monday evening at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood with director(s) Emmet Malloy doing a special speaking engagement. (leave it to the White Stripes to go and get a director(s) named fucking Emmet.) i wouldn’t be surprised if one or both of the Whites show up, too, by the way. so get your tickets here and snag them fast. more info after the jump.

Dinosaur Jr. is playing a free surprise (yeah right… there’s this thing called the internet, folks) show at the hella intimate Troubadour this coming Tuesday night. the doors open at 8pm, and it’s first come, first serve. good luck y’all. if people (morbidly OBESE people at that) are willing to spend their unemployed days in line just to get a free Moons Over My Hammy, then the wait for this one will probably go down the block. good thing Dinosaur is so loud, you’ll probably be able to hear them anyway. damn, those Yeasayer kids are going to be kind of a big deal, and Warpaint kind of rulz the schulz, too, so i was really looking forward to tonights First Fridays‘ double header tonight at the Natural History Museum. (Deer Tick closes out the season on March 5th.) oh well, as compensation here’s a bunch of awesome Yeasayer-ness. firstly, their new album, Odd Blood, which has finally released, is available right now to preview in its entirety on their Myspace page here, and it’s also available for download in a variety of packages here. some really great stuff, although nothing as stellar as their Ambling Alp single, NSFW video of which is below. which brings me to my second note. check out the naked psychedelica weirdness of their Ambling Alp Single experience that’s meant to accompany the video at their site here. kind of like watching porn while you drop some acid. i can’t tell you how impressed i am with the upcoming album by jónsi. it’s like hearing Sigur Rós all over again for the very first time, only upbeat and full of life and a bunch of lame shit like that. he’s just announced his 2010 US tour, and he hits Cali a couple other times in Berkeley and San Fran. check out the full schedule at his site here. more importantly, you’ll notice his name on the updated Coachella flyer right next to De La Soul on Sunday’s schedule. Sigur Rós’ debut at Coachella way back when was utterly disastrous, but it’s good to see that they’ve since made amends. also, Definition: Hopelandic: A made-up language consisting of gibberish words. shit, turns out we’ve been using Hopelandic here on WTTD for more than a year now.
