Ok Go is playing the Music Box at Henry Fonda Theater (get your tickets here tomorrow), and i don’t really care too much about that, but it gives me a chance to post their awesome This Too Shall Pass videos that are such a big deal all over the internets and worlds wides webseses. here is the new one:
and here’s the older one, which isn’t executed nearly as well, but it’s still pretty damn neat.
just a quick post to let you know that WTTD pal Adam Bones is opening up for Visqueen and Bear Hands tonight at Spaceleand. not a fan of Visqueen, but Bear Hands definitely merits a listen. good stuff. Ari Shine also opens.
swoon. jesus satan finds himself in love, and oh cruel fate, how is it possible that it has struck twice in the same place!?!? which of sweet home Chicagoans Moneypenny is jesus satan to choose? also known as DJ Mother Hubbard and DJ A-Cup (ha!), these two lovely female disc jockeys got IT goin’ on in SPADESwith both looks and talent. tonight they’re doing a “special performance” (i.e. cat fight over j. satan) at La Cita for Dance Right’s weekly Thursday night sexcapade. (bonus! you can download a grip of their Spandexxx series of live mixes for free here. you’re welcome!) Kingdom, Taliesin and Chico Sonido round out the talent pool.
here’s a slick video from the amazing if somewhat bookwormish Passion Pit for the single To Kingdom Come. they’re hitting Terminal 5 tonight and tomorrow and Sunday, although everything is all sold out, so if you big bullies want to beat them up for being such geeks, then you’ll have to wait for them out back in the alley. these guys are total, TOTAL dorks, but i have to admit that i wish i was as cool as them.
here’s a slick new video from the amazing if somewhat bookwormish Passion Pit for the single To Kingdom Come. they’re hitting Los Angeles tonight (kind of) at the Fox Theater in Pomona. in early January they’re also playing three shows in New York at Terminal 5, although the first two nights are way sold out, so act fast and get your tickets for the tenth here. these guys are total, TOTAL dorks, but jesus satan has to admit that i wish i was as cool as them.
i’ve decided that i need to start making stuff that’s this cool instead of just talking about other people doing it. inspiring short animation from director Bruno B. Dicolla, who has a hipster swine-tastic little website here. speaking of hipster swine, he also made a fun little Wavves video for To The Dregs, which you can find after the jump.
here’s a slick new video from the amazing if somewhat bookwormish Passion Pit for the single To Kingdom Come. they’re hitting Los Angeles (kind of) December 12th at the Fox Theater in Pomona and tickets are still available right here. in early January they’re also playing three shows in New York at Terminal 5, although the first two nights are way sold out, so act fast and get your tickets for the tenth here. these guys are total, TOTAL dorks, but jesus satan has to admit that i wish i was as cool as them.
fresh off an amazing performance at Coachella, as well as a ton of other projects, Amanda Palmer (one half of über-amazing Dresden Dolls) is returning to L.A.with a sold out show tonight at the Troubadour. Palmer, accompanied by performance art troupe The Danger Ensemble, gave one of my favorite performances last year at the Henry Fonda, when in the space of two hours or so she pretended to sexually assault Katy Perry with Margaret Cho, resurrected herself from the dead, and welcomed my favorite author of all time, Neil Gaiman, to the stage to read a recital that he had written specifically for her. not a bad night. she’s poetically histrionic, but never slips into tediousness, always clever and amusing, and you should all be jealous because she stood right next to me during Leonard Cohen’s captivating performance at Coachella.
