apparently the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are getting a little lazy and cheap in their old age. they’re running a contest for their fans to design a shirt which they will then use to sell at their concerts and online. so basically they make a ton of money off your blood and sweat and tears and all you get is some autographed ‘booty’. Hey Folks, all us YYYs have been avid collectors of t-shirts over the years, what can we say, WE LIKEY A GOOD T-SHIRT. In our travels many of you have chucked a homemade YYY tee on the stage or what not and all the shirts have always been unique and poured over with loooooove. So it got us thinking: how about giving you the fans a crack at coming up with a fresh new blitzin’ YYY T-shirt design! It’s a natural fact that YYYs have amongst YOU a whole heap of ART STARS! So school’s out for the summer and we want you to spend a hot lazy afternoon throwing something together for us YYYs to REPRESENT! And I got a hunch you’re gonna bring it! Fritz Helder & The Phantoms will be celebrating the release of their debut album, Greatest Hits: Platinum Edition (hee hee), at Cinespace next Tuesday night. The event is hosted by Nelly Furtado who is releasing the record under her new indie label, Nelstar Music. Words from the revered jesus satan: “Fritz and friends sound much like a Scissor Sisters that doesn’t suck.” But I’ll let you guys be the judge after watching the sweet video below.

There are no balloons or confetti or giant checks, but if your caption is chosen, Frazier puts the completed cartoon (words + drawing) up on his site and credits you for your comic genius. In the end, he plans to put them all together in a book, in which case your winning one-liner will appear there as well and you can buy 5 copies for your mother. Damn, what a great way to sell books.
